In order to demonstrate our track record in our fields of expertise, we have summarised a selection of our projects, which have been recently completed or which are ongoing.

For each of the selected projects we provide a descriptive summary of the project itself, as well as outlining the nature of our involvement and our responsibilities in its execution. We also provide some general project data. The projects are of a diverse nature, and include large stadium structures, buildings, bridges and tunnels.

Full responsibility for all structural analysis, design and detailing aspects of this Design/Build Project.

Background to Project

  • Owner: Gaelic Athletic Association
  • Phases 1,2 and 3 complete at a total cost of £110m. Phase 4 comprises the Redevelopment of the Northern End (Hill 16). Unlike the previous “Hill”, the new standing terrace is divided into separate sections – Hill A (Cusack stand side), Hill B (behind the goals) and the Nally terrace (Hogan Stand side).
  • Final spectator capacity approx. 82 500.
  • Total capital cost of Phase 4 approximately €25m (approx R200 million)



  • Development of Precast Concrete Alternative to In-situ Concrete Tender Design Solution
  • 3-Dimensional Modal Analysis of the modified Structure in precast concrete to study structural response to crowd action. Lower Bounds for natural frequencies of fundamental modes of vibration of empty structure defined i.e. vertical modes – f0 >6Hz, horizontal modes – f0 >3Hz.
  • Static Analysis of Structure to BS8110. 3-Dimensional global and local space frame models. Loading i.a.w. BS6399 and IStructE – “Dynamic performance requirements for permanent grandstands subject to crowd action” and project specific loading specification.
  • Design, detailing, preparation of general arrangement drawings, production drawings and schedules for the entire structure and the requisite precast concrete elements, including columns, aisle beams (85t), concourse level beams, terracing units, vomitories, lift shafts, wall panels, control suite elements.
  • Design Reports issued electronically and in hard copy format. Layout and fabrication drawings in ACAD format, issued electronically.
  • Establishment, implementation and maintenance of a document control system

On the basis of this project, the Institution of Engineers of Ireland nominated Markus Hausen as a finalist for the 2004 Irish Chartered Engineer of the Year Awards
